At age of twelve, Baltimore-based stylist Rachael Epstein was greatly influenced by her step-father, Murray. He was focusing on black and white photography at the time. Murray recognized her interest, and gifted her with her first camera—a cannon E-1. Rachael’s creativity began to flourish, and she has had a camera in her hands at all times from this monumental moment in her life. For the next ten years, she began traveling around the country by motorcycle documenting poverty and addiction. During this time, she offered her time cooking food, giving haircuts, and coordinating events for donations of clothing and food for those in need.
In December 2006, Rachael and a co-partner founded Sprout, an Organic Salon in Hampden. With her passion for environmental impact, Sprout was one of the first organic salons in the country. Her most recent venture, Crafted Hair Studio, also focuses on environmental impact and volunteer work. Along with her well curated team at Crafted, Rachael offers avant grade and precision hair styling.
